Featured Quilter: Joan Wobbleton

March 17, 2022 @ 1:00 pm

We’re celebrating textiles throughout March at the Horry County Museum! Join us Thursday, March 17th at 1 PM as local quilter Joan Wobbleton shares about Quilts of Valor and talks about quilts from her personal collection.

Joan Wobbleton is a retired nurse practitioner who began quilting some 60 years ago when she watched her mother in law and her sisters sitting around a large wooden frame in her living room. They spent the day hand quilting and talking. Joan made one hand quilt 36 years ago and that was her last: “I found out a sewing machine was quicker and therefore I’ve made many quilts.” Joan and her husband Jim have been involved in the Quilts of Valor program since 2010 including starting the Myrtle Beach Shorebirds group.

The program will be held at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street, Conway SC. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 843-915-5320 or email hcgmuseum@horrycounty.org. To view a full list of programs, visit our website at www.horrycountymuseum.org.
