Creating the Carolinas: A Boundary for North and South Carolina

An exhibit from the South Carolina Historical Society on display at the Horry County Museum

Have you ever wondered how the borders of South Carolina were created? The story of South Carolina’s boundaries began 400 years ago when kings, political deals, Indian treaties, and misguided surveying helped create our state lines. Learn how our troublesome state boundaries evolved over the centuries.

This exhibit, on loan from the South Carolina Historical Society, will be on display at the Horry County Museum until January 2016. To find out more about the Horry County Museum, visit our website at www.horrycountymuseum.org or call us at (843) 915.5320. The Horry County Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9AM-5PM. Admission is free.
