Museum Day at the Horry County Museum

Celebrate the Horry County Museum and our local history! This special event day is free to the public and will feature various activities, demonstrations and information stations for all ages from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 12th.
From 10-2 pm, visitors can have fossils and minerals identified and learn about our fossil history with a special demonstration from local expert, Don Kirkpatrick. Local author and historian Ted Gragg will also be on hand to identify Civil War era artifacts.
Throughout the day, visitors can view the episode of Tanked featuring the Horry County Museum in the McCown Auditorium, and get up close with local wildlife from Playcard Environmental Center in our Natural History Gallery. Families are also invited to visit the Conway Library for special programming. Living history demonstrations of butter making and Colonial food ways will be on hand as well. Information tables featuring material from local cultural institutions will be set up throughout the day for visitors to learn about some of the great history and resources our area has to offer.
The Horry County Museum would like to thank the following exhibitors for participating in Museum Day: The Athenaeum Press at CCU, the Friends of the Horry County Museum, the North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum, Ted Gragg, Bob Hill, the South Carolina Virtual Charter School, the South Carolina Maritime Museum, Don Kirkpatrick, Playcard Environmental Center, the Horry County Board of Architectural Review, the Children’s Museum of South Carolina, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Conway Library, Waccamaw Riverkeeper, Brookgreen Gardens, and Horry County Parks & Recreation.
