SUMMARY:Cooking demonstration at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm: Hog Head Cheese
DESCRIPTION:Experience life on the “one horse farm” in Horry County from 1900-1955 at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Join us on February 7th from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM for a cooking demonstration on the wood burning stove. When a hog was butchered in the early part of the year\, every effort was made to make as much use of the meat as possible. The head of the pig was often cooked and pressed into a “cheese loaf” or souse meat to be used for breakfast or sandwich meat. Many families would also process the liver into “liver pudding”. Join us to see how both of these dishes would have been prepared. \nA free\, hour long\, guided tour of the Farm will be available to the public at 3:00 PM following the demonstration. \nThe L. W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family. The farm is free and open to the public and is located at the corner of Hwy 701 North and Harris Short Cut Road in Conway\, SC. For more information\, call the L. W.
