SUMMARY:How Does the Garden Grow? Organic Gardening at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm
DESCRIPTION:Experience life on the “one horse farm” in Horry County from 1900-1955 at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Join us on September 11th from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM for a program on gardening where visitors can learn about growing a garden using heirloom varieties of vegetables and only organic fertilizers. This demonstration will feature staff tilling in the summer cover crop. \nThe L. W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family. The farm is free and open to the public and is located at the corner of Hwy 701 North and Harris Short Cut Road in Conway\, SC. For more information\, call the L. W. SUMMARY:South Carolinians in WWII: Liberation
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with South Carolinians in WWII: Liberation.  This episode follows our veterans past the Battle of the Bulge and through the Siegfried Line as they battle their way into Germany to discover the horror of concentration camps. Combining first-person accounts of the holocaust survivors and veterans\, a distinct picture is drawn of the inhumanity that the Nazi command structure forced upon those they deemed undesirable. The stories are graphic and heartbreaking but tell a vivid story of heroism and the will to survive when surrounded by the horrors of war. \nThe film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM\, Wednesday\, September 11th\, at the Horry County Museum\, located at 805 Main Street in Conway. \nThe Horry County Museum Documentary Film Matinees will continue throughout 2019.
