SUMMARY:Free Children’s Programs at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join us for free 30 minute Saturday activities at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited to help ensure social distancing. On April 22nd we’ll celebrate Earth Day by making ‘seed bombs’! These special seed packages can be thrown anywhere and are packed with seeds that will help attract pollinators. \nFor information about available times and to register\, contact Marian Calder at 843-915-7861 or email calder.marian@horrycountysc.gov. Available sessions are 9\, 9:30\, 10 or 10:30\, please specify which session you would like upon registering. \nThe L.W. SUMMARY:Horry County Museum Lecture Series: The American Black Bear in Horry & Georgetown Counties
DESCRIPTION:The Horry County Museum presents a program by Kayla Brantley from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources on Saturday\, April 22nd\, on black bears in Horry & Georgetown Counties. Join us as Kayla shares some of the do’s and don’ts of living with black bears. \nKayla was born and raised in Georgetown\, SC. After high school\, Kayla completed her Associates Degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management. During her studies at Horry Georgetown Technical College\, she applied for and was accepted for a summer internship with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. After the summer internship and associate degree\, Kayla continued her education and received her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Environment and Natural Resource Management at Coastal Carolina. She also continued to work with SCDNR when she could. Upon graduation\, Kayla started working full time with SCDNR. \nKayla has worked with SCDNR for over 10 years and is a Wildlife Biologist in Georgetown and Horry County. She also serves as the as the Coastal Black Bear Biologist. Kayla resides in Georgetown County on the family farm with her husband and children. \nThe program will be held in the McCown Auditorium located at 805 Main Street\, Conway SC.
