SUMMARY:Free Children’s Program at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, September 6th\, for a free 30 minute activity at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited. In this session\, we’ll talk about the importance of plants and use pressed flowers to create bookmarks. \nFor information about available times and to register\, contact Marian Calder at 843-915-7861 or email calder.marian@horrycountysc.gov . Available sessions are 9\, 9:30\, 10 or 10:30\, please specify which session you would like upon registering. \nThe L.W. DESCRIPTION:Research passion; archival trove; narrative itch to scratch—what is your motivation for writing a book? Perhaps more important: Who will appreciate your motivation and then want to buy and read that book? Join us at the Horry County Museum on Saturday\, September 6th at 1 PM as Michael McGandy explains the basics of developing and pitching a book project to an established publisher or taking the path of self-publishing. Market trends and process essentials will be presented and ample time left for questions and answers. \nMichael J. McGandy is Director of University of South Carolina Press. Prior to arriving in Columbia in 2022\, he was Senior Editor and Editorial Director of the Three Hills regional trade imprint at Cornell University Press. He has also worked in commercial publishing at W. W. Norton & Company\, Macmillan Reference/Gale Group\, and Rowman & Littlefield. \nThis event will be held at the Museum’s McCown Auditorium located at 805 Main Street\, Conway\, S.C.
