DESCRIPTION:Visitors of all ages are invited to join us Saturday\, Oct 3rd from 9 AM-12 PM at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm as we celebrate one of our favorite treats\, the peanut. Stop by to try boiled peanuts grown at the farm and help harvest them. Bring the kids for a game of hopscotch and a chance to make their own birdfeeder using peanut butter! \nThe L.W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family from 1900-1955. DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 10th as Horry County Museum Curator Hillary Winburn discusses the impact of the Spanish Flu of 1918 on Horry County. \nHillary Winburn graduated from The College of Charleston in 2005. Before becoming Curator for the Horry County Museum and the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Ms. Winburn volunteered with The Friends of the Hunley and worked with the Historic Charleston Foundation and the Horry County Library. In 2018\, she graduated from the Jekyll Island Museum Management Institute. She is a member of the South Carolina Federation of Museums and the Southeastern Museum Conference. \nThe program will begin at 1 pm in the McCown Auditorium located at 805 Main Street\, Conway SC. DESCRIPTION:The 2020 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Transforming the Grand Strand: Hurricane Hazel. \nHurricane Hazel slammed into the Grand Strand on October 15\, 1954 as a category four hurricane on a full moon high tide and forever changed our area. DESCRIPTION:We’re talking corn at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm! Visitors of all ages are invited to join us Saturday\, October 31st from 9 AM until 12 PM to learn all about how corn was grown and used in our farm communities. Visitors can try their hand at shucking and shelling corn\, see the gristmill in action and learn about the different ways that corn would be cooked in the farmhouse. Bring the kids by to make toys out of corn cobs and corn husks too! We’ll be having a costume contest at 11:30\, so parents\, have your kids dressed like a farmer and be ready to tell us what their favorite crop grown in Horry County is and why! \nThe L.W.
