Christine Vernon: Pirate Legends Along the South Carolina Coast

The Horry County Museum and the Athenaeum Press at CCU present a program by ‘The Pirate Lady’, Christine Vernon, on Saturday, September 21st.

Vernon will share the history and legends of pirates along the South Carolina coast during the Golden Age of Piracy from 1670-1720. Join us for stories of well-known pirates like Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, Anne Bonny, Mary Read and our local legendary favorite, Drunken Jack.

Christine Vernon was born and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA where she studied both fine art and theater. She moved to Murrells Inlet, SC in 2005 where she began studying the local history and legends of the Carolina Coast, specifically the South Strand area. With this knowledge, in 2015, she created Miss Chris' Inlet Walking Tour.
