• Spring Planting Day at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

    Visitors of all ages are invited to join us Saturday, April 11th from 9 AM-12 PM at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm for our annual Spring Planting Day. Stop by to learn about the different types of plants that would have been important to the farm family and how they would have prepared their spring and summer garden. We’ll have a variety of demonstrations throughout the Farm including cooking on the wood burning stove, planting, and more!
    The L.W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family from 1900-1955.   • Horry County Museum unveils new 250th Exhibit

    The Horry County Museum is celebrating America’s 250th with a new exhibit, “For the good of our Country and the welfare of our lives, liberties, and fortunes…” The Dynamics of Horry County During the American Revolution. This exhibit focuses on the area that became Horry County, once part of Georgetown District, during the American Revolution. Throughout the gallery visitors will learn about Revolutionary War figures like Francis Marion and Peter Horry, the types of weapons and clothing used by Continental Soldiers and Militia Men, as well as local battles and places of interest during the War. The public is invited to an exhibit opening on Saturday, April 11th at 2:30 PM at the Horry County Museum.

  • Swamp Fox: Francis Marion & the American Revolution

    The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with the locally produced film Swamp Fox: Francis Marion & the American Revolution. Produced and narrated by historian Rod Gragg, this film follows the life of Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion from his birth in 1732 near Monck’s Corner, SC to his experiences as a sailor, and service in the French and Indian War, where he learned the ambush fighting techniques that would frustrate the British in the Revolutionary War and earn him the nickname ‘Swamp Fox’.
    The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 15th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

  • Free Children’s Program at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

    Join us Saturday, April 18th, for a free 30 minute activity at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited. Children will learn about a few of the common vegetables grown on the family farm and start a mini garden using recycled egg cartons.

  • The American Revolution in South Carolina: Blacks & Whites, Women & Men

    The Horry County Museum presents a program in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University and the South Carolina 250th Commission on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at 1 PM.
    Woody Holton, professor of history at the University of South Carolina, will speak on the American Revolution in South Carolina. Holton is the author of five books, including Abigail Adams (2009), which won the Bancroft Prize. His recent book, Liberty is Sweet: The Hidden History of the American Revolution shows how America’s founders were influenced by often overlooked Americans at the time, including women, Native Americans, African Americans, and religious dissenters.
    The program is free to the public and will be held in the Museum’s McCown Auditorium located at 805 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526. Part of the Carolina Stories Series by SCETV, this film explores Brookgreen Gardens, one of South Carolina’s most beloved landmarks, located in Murrells Inlet, near Myrtle Beach. History, nature and art come together in a program that is both beautiful and informative, revealing Brookgreen’s enduring importance to the Palmetto state. A distinctive collection of American figurative sculpture, education programs for all ages, dazzling gardens, rare natural habitats, a long and fascinating history—are the things that make Brookgreen Gardens such a unique treasure, nestled between the Waccamaw River and the sea.

    The Horry County Museum presents a program all about shark’s teeth by Charles Shelton on Saturday, April 25th, at 1:00 PM.
    “Shark Tooth Charles” has been hunting for shark’s teeth for close to 40 years. It's his passion and he loves to give his time to educate, inspire, and enlighten others about the world of shark teeth hunting. In this program you'll learn about shark teeth, shark jaws, and most importantly how to hunt for shark’s teeth. You'll also learn about what can be found locally on our beaches. We hope that you walk away ready to hunt some teeth!
