• Soldier Stories: Valor in Vietnam

    The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Soldier Stories: Valor in Vietnam. This locally produced film chronicles the common experiences of Americans in uniform during the Vietnam War through historic combat footage, period photography, and personal commentary by local Vietnam veterans and others.
    The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 4th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

  • Quilts of Valor at the Horry County Museum

    The public is invited to view a special Quilts of Valor presentation at the Horry County Museum. Quilts made especially for local veterans will be presented by the Conway Quilt Guild Quilts of Valor Group on Saturday, November 7th at 11 AM.
    The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF) is to cover all service members and veterans, touched by war, with a comforting and healing quilt. Since 2003, the foundation, now a national organization, has awarded over 400,000 quilts to veterans throughout the country. The Conway Quilt Guild has been recognized as one of the newest QOV groups, seeking to expand recognition to veterans in the northern and western parts of Horry County.   • Syrup Day at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

    See history come to life at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm! A large part of farm life in Horry County involved old-fashioned syrup making. Each fall, sugar cane was gathered from the field and taken to a local cane mill where the juice was squeezed from the stalk. Cooking down the raw juice into sweet cane syrup became a celebration and gathering for the community and is a tradition that is carried on each year at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Join us Saturday, November 14th from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm as staff and volunteers demonstrate the process of making cane syrup and a variety of other traditional activities including children’s games, cooking on a wood burning stove, and more!

  • The Snowbird Cherokees

    The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with The Snowbird Cherokees. Deep in the mountains of western North Carolina is the isolated Cherokee community of Snowbird. The ancestors of these Native Americans managed to flee U.S. soldiers in 1838 when the Cherokee Nation was forced to march the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma. This film explores the daily lives and culture of the present-day Cherokees, while looking into the fascinating history and culture of these Native Americans.
    The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

  • Free Children’s Program at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

    Join us Saturday, November 21st, for a free 30 minute activity at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited. In this session, children will learn about local Native American tools and pottery. They’ll also make and decorate a small clay pot to take home!

    The Horry County Museum presents a program by Evan Nooe in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University and the South Carolina 250th Commission on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at 1 PM. Nooe is an assistant professor of history and historian for the Native American Studies Center at the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. He is the author of Aggression and Sufferings: Settler Violence, Native Resistance, and the Coalescence of the Old South.

  • Patriot Dream: The Story of the Pilgrims

    The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Patriot Dream: The Story of the Pilgrims. This locally produced documentary tells the story of the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony, whose arrival in America in 1620 shaped the founding of the nation. Shot on location in the Pilgrim country of Great Britain and in the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts, it traces the story of the Pilgrims from their troubles in 17th century England through their escape to Holland and their dramatic voyage to America.
    The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 25th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.
