The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Beyond Barbados: The Carolina Connection. Part of the SCETV Carolina Stories Series, Beyond Barbados traces the historic influence of the small island of Barbados on the development of the Carolinas. Scholars examine the cultural exchange that impacted the development of language, food and architecture, and recount how the economic and governmental systems created, tested and proven by the West Indies sugar industry forged the prosperity and power of the Carolinas – chief among them the institution of slavery.
The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 1st, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Finding Clovis. This 30 minute film takes viewers on an archeological adventure at the Topper dig site in Allendale County, South Carolina. Famous for Clovis and pre-Clovis artifacts, there is evidence that may support the theory that a comet suddenly wiped out the Clovis culture 13,000 years ago. World renowned scientists offer their opinions about these significant first Americans, where they came from, how they lived, and what may have been their fate. |

Visitors of all ages are invited to join us Saturday, April 11th from 9 AM-12 PM at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm for our annual Spring Planting Day. Stop by to learn about the different types of plants that would have been important to the farm family and how they would have prepared their spring and summer garden. We’ll have a variety of demonstrations throughout the Farm including cooking on the wood burning stove, planting, and more! |

The 2026 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with the locally produced film Swamp Fox: Francis Marion & the American Revolution. Produced and narrated by historian Rod Gragg, this film follows the life of Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion from his birth in 1732 near Monck’s Corner, SC to his experiences as a sailor, and service in the French and Indian War, where he learned the ambush fighting techniques that would frustrate the British in the Revolutionary War and earn him the nickname ‘Swamp Fox’. |

Join us Saturday, April 18th, for a free 30 minute activity at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited. Children will learn about a few of the common vegetables grown on the family farm and start a mini garden using recycled egg cartons. The Horry County Museum presents a program in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University and the South Carolina 250th Commission on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at 1 PM. |
